Innovation, Sustainable Business and the Future We want

University Startup World Cup (USWC) was initiated by Venture Cup Denmark, a Nordic not-for-profit association of Danish universities. It’s a leading Innovation & Entrepreneurship competition jointed by universities, students and startups around the world. Its vision is to build a global innovation and startup network involving governments, universities, students and enterprises and to promote the development of innovations and startups of young university students across the world, to support university Innovation & Entrepreneurship Internationalization, to inspire more researchers, young scientists and university students to join together for a better future.

Since its launch in October 2015, USWC has been held for five consecutive years. As the outcome of the first World Young Scientists Summit (2019) and the key activity of the 2020 World Young Scientists Summit, the Global Final of the University Startup World Cup 2020 is held in Wenzhou, China for the first time outside Denmark.

Business and the Future We want”, focuses on four industrial directions, namely Health Tech, Green Tech, AI & ICT, Smart City. Each category has growth stage and early stage for the competition, so there are 8 groups altogether. There will also be a Social Value Award.

Since USWC 2020 Official Launch on May 11th the 70 years Anniversary of China and Denmark Diplomatic Relationship, it has received a total of 4,131 startup applications, involving nearly 2,000 universities covering 71 countries of 4 continents. Among those, 1446 projects were received from China, involving around 100 universities covering 15 provinces (cities, autonomous regions), Hong Kong and Macao SAR. In the global final, 75 startups from 34 countries were selected for the final competition. Each category will have one winner, and finally, the early stage and the growth stage will each have a global winner.
