2021 Youth Climate Action Summit

Guiding Ideology

"China will increase its national independent contribution, adopt more powerful policies and measures, strive to reach the peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060" -- this is our country's solemn commitment to the international community. It is also a mobilization order issued by China as a responsible major country to combat global climate change and promote the sustainable development of mankind. We thoroughly implement the spirit of the former two Summits, deeply understand the precise research and judgment of "The future of science and technology is dependent of our young!", uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, take "people" as the center, and actively promote scientific and technological humanities exchanges and young talent innovation cooperation. We should also gather outstanding young scientists from all over the world, deeply integrate young talents in the industry, finance, and art circles, and build an open exchange platform around the theme of "Converging the World's Talents and Creating a Better Future", and promote the exchange of ideas among young scientists, scientists and entrepreneurs from all over the world learn from each other, work together for mutual benefit and win-win, build the cornerstone of friendship, tighten the bonds of cooperation, and gather the confidence, wisdom and strength to jointly cope with global challenges, so that more young scientific and technological talents can display their ambitions, achieve their dreams, and innovate with science and technology. It will lead the economic and social development, and creating a better future for human development.

Background

The World Young Scientist Summit has been successfully held in Wenzhou for two sessions, attracting global scientific and technological guests including Nobel Prize winners, overseas academicians and experts, representatives of young scientists, and heads of international scientific and technological organizations to participate in the event to discuss scientific and technological innovation and the social responsibilities of young scientists.
In 2021, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres sent a letter to all participants, affirming that the declaration adopted by the World Young Scientists Summit is an important expression of supporting the role of science in promoting human well-being and defeating the new crown pandemic, appreciated participants' concept of "contribution to building a more inclusive, fair, sustainable and peaceful future" and looked forward to working with participants and colleagues to tackle climate change and other challenges.
At present, the global spread of the COVID-19 epidemic has brought great challenges to the world. Great changes are taking place in the world public health system, the international order, and the world pattern. Youth, as the future of the countries and the world, needs to share ideas and contribute wisdom to promoting the building of a community of shared future for mankind and creating a better future for human development. In order to respond to the initiative of Mr. Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, UNESCO, the International International institutions such as the Youth UNESCO Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN), the Young Earth Scientists(YES)Network, the Global Young Academy (GYA), the The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), UN-HABITAT and other international organizations jointly proposed to hold the "2021 Youth Climate Action Summit" (hereinafter referred to as the "Climate Action Summit") during WYSS 2021.
