In his videos, Daniel Kammen discussed the profound relationship between
climate, energy and achieving decarbonization targets. He mentioned that his
team collaborated with local universities built the SWITCH model by the way of the
transmission between solar energy and wind energy and the mutual combination
of traditional energy. Using this model, they collected the innovation rate of each
area, combined them with energy efficiency data as well as the installation cost of a
new power transmission system to arrive at a more eco-friendly power sector. Small
distributed clean energy could not only meet the living needs of villagers, but also
extensively replace dams which is harmful to the ecological system. In a word, he
points out that the benefits decarbonization brings to poverty-stricken communities
and our ecological system could quantify the opportunities from a inclusive society.
At the same time, to establish an open market and to quantify synergy could further
benefit decarbonization.
