INTRODUCTION
The 2020 World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS 2020) was held when the United Nations was
celebrating its 75th anniversary. With the focus on such core topics as "Poverty and Eradication,
Sciences and Pandemics, Environment and Health, Youth and Future, Innovation and Education"
and other UN SDGs, WYSS 2020 included four major sessions, namely "Moments of Science,
Dialogue with Future, Realizing Dreams and Engaging for Sharing". The pre-summit events were
officially initiated in May 2020. In Wenzhou, China on October 18-19, the second summit was
held successfully in the form of domestic and overseas interactions both online and offline and
received a strong support from national leaders and world-renowned scientists.
Top scientists including 12 Nobel Prize laureates and Wolf Prize winners as well as 113 Chinese
and foreign academicians attended the Summit at invitation. The participants were from 125
countries and international science and technology organizations, and about 70% of them were
young scientists under 45.
More than 400 guests participated in the Summit online via video, keynote presentation, etc.
and they included Gang Wan, Vice Chairman of CPPCC National Committee and President of
CAST, Nanshan Zhong, Recipient of Order of the Republic and Academician of CAE, Nobel
Prize and Wolf Prize winners such as Aaron Ciechanover, representatives of UN organizations,
well-known international science and technology organizations and prestigious overseas
universities, and government officials.
